Before starting to write my essay, I first gathered research on the subject in order to build an idea of how my essay would be structured, as well as what I would want to speak about.

In this research document I also created an essay plan.
DESIGN HISTORY ESSAY final - Copy.pdf
After I had completed my essay, I went onto thinking about how the web essay should look, and how I was going to design it. I knew from the start I wanted the website to be in the style of Timothy Goodman’s work, with thick black lines, a bold but limited colour pallet and eye catching typography.
For inspiration I looked on the website Onepagelove.com. This website showcases all sorts of one page websites. Here pictured below are two of my favourites. I like how the one on the left utilises just white and red throughout, giving it a clean but fun and modern look. I like the one of the right as it is very simple and easy to read, with all of the content being centred in the middle of the page. Both of these sites are very different, but both serve their respective purpose.
This technique consisted of drawing out 8 frames and spending only one or two minutes on each design. After the first few framed, I got used to the fast pace and it challenged me to work quickly and without inhibition. I started to worry less about the structure and more about how it looked.
For this technique, we as a class passed around our sheets and had three of our classmates design a website based on the topic you had chosen and your own favourite sketch. This exercise was a good way to collaborate and share ideas with each other.
