While working on a project it is important to have a wide range of sources of inspiration for non-project specific research.
I have been looking out for usage of point, line and plane in my everyday surroundings as well:
I found the brief quite challenging, so I began my process by doing some rough mind mapping to try help get ideas flowing. I also wrote out the definitions of all of the words to help spark ideas also.
Once I had done my mind mapping I arrived on my final ideas an did some sketches.
For point, I chose to represent disperse and proximity. My design for disperse was inspired by black mould spreading. My design for proximity was inspired by sacred geometry and the patterns which are often evident in it. I had each point overlap to show this idea of proximity.
For my line designs I chose to represent symmetry and asymmetry. For symmetry, I was inspired by kaleidoscope patterns and art deco architecture. For asymmetry I looked at QR codes, I liked the look of the seemingly nonsensical lines and patterns.
For my planes work, I chose to represent data. I had each plane represent an amount of time I have lived in a particular place in my lifetime, the largest plane being my childhood home and the smallest being my university accommodation.
